Gojo and Geto’s Complex Friendship
Gojo and Geto began their friendship in their second year at Tokyo Jujutsu High. They quickly became best friends. But, they fell out over the loss of a friend, leading to different views on roles in the jujutsu community. A few years later, Gojo and Geto stood on opposite sides, Gojo was committed to rebuilding the world and safeguarding the world from Cursed Spirits, while the latter wanted to create an environment that was only populated by Jujutsu Sorcerers and curse-users in which normal human beings cease to exist.
Jujutsu Kaisen has over 70 million copies in circulation as of August 2022 and 21 tankobon copies by December 2022. Written by Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen follows Yuji Itadori who swallows the finger of a formidable Curse named Sukuna and results in him receiving the death penalty. Instead of killing him, Gojo suggests postponing his death, and then bringing Yuji in as a student at Tokyo Jujutsu High and training to make him take Sukuna’s fingers. After that then they will be able to execute Yuji and kill Sukuna. An anime adaptation, created by MAPPA, was released in October 2020 and it aired for 24 episodes. The prequel movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was released a year later. It earned over 13 billion yen at the box office, making it the 14th highest-earning Japanese film to date until September 2022.
