Cosplayer Insignifaca has recreated the iconic character Nicholas D. Wolfwood from Trigun Stampede, complete with the massive cross-shaped weapon, Punisher. The cosplay, which was shared on Reddit, features Wolfwood’s black suit, gray undershirt, disheveled black hair, and signature sunglasses. Insignificant has previously crafted other remarkable costumes of anime characters such as Yuta from Jujutsu Kaisen, Boji from Ranking of Kings, and Hitsugaya from Bleach.

The Trigun Stampede reboot, which premiered in January as part of the winter 2023 anime lineup, is set on the apocalyptic desert planet Noman’s Land. The series follows the adventures of Vash, a mysterious gunman, and journalists Meryl Strife and Roberto de Niro as they encounter Wolfwood, a priest with a penchant for cigarettes, violence, and hidden secrets. The English dub features David Matranga as Wolfwood, Johnny Yong Bosch as Vash, Sarah Roach as Meryl Strife, Ben Bryant as Roberto, and Austin Tindle as antagonist Million Knives.
Created by Yasuhiro Nightow, the Trigun manga was published in Tokuma Shoten’s Monthly Shōnen Captain from April 1995 to January 1997, followed by its sequel series, Trigun Maximum, in Shōnen Gahosha’s Young King OURs from October 1997 to March 2007. The initial anime adaptation, produced by Madhouse (Death Note), aired from April to September 1998 and spawned a feature film, Trigun: Badlands, in April 2010.

The Trigun Stampede reboot, however, was produced by a different studio – Orange, known for Black Bullet and Godzilla Singular Point. The reboot was directed by Kenji Mutou (Rage of Bahamut: Genesis), with character designs by Kouji Tajima (live-action Attack on Titan movie) and music composed by Tatsuya Katō (Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow).
Both Trigun Stampede and the original anime adaptation can be streamed on Crunchyroll, while Nightow’s manga is distributed in North America by Dark Horse Comics.
